Any ASIS member can enrolled in ASIS mentoring program at any time.
To find a mentor, you should first create a mentee profile.
Once your profile is created, search through the ASIS Mentor Directory.
When you have filtered your results far enough down to find a mentor of interest, at the bottom of their profile, click Request Engagement.
At that point, you will be asked to share why you are requesting the match--please be sincere and detailed--this request will go directly to the mentor and will help them understand if they can assist you as a mentor.
They may decline, accept, or ask further questions at that point. Once a mentor accepts your request, you will receive a notification of such and once logged in again, see their contact information in their profile--you should then reach out to schedule your first meet up.
In your first meet up, it is important to share goals and expectations. For that meeting, think about:
- How often you'd like to meet with your mentor
- What you're hoping to accomplish
- What your timeline is at this point
Know that you do not need to be clear on all of these details immediately, but defining your goals and expectations up front will help you measure your success and ensure you both get the most out of the relationship.
